This 1910 farmhouse had incredible bones but a kitchen that was entirely closed off from the rest of the living space. The homeowners wanted to open up the floor plan to allow for better flow while entertaining, without losing the historic charm of the home.
Our team started by removing a load-bearing wall between the kitchen and dining room, installing a hidden steel beam to support the second floor. We then completely reimagined the layout, introducing a massive 10-foot center island with a beautiful quartz waterfall edge that serves as the new heart of the home.
To maintain the farmhouse aesthetic, we incorporated custom shaker-style cabinetry, a classic subway tile backsplash, and reclaimed wood floating shelves. The result is a space that feels both modern and timeless, perfectly suited for this family's lifestyle.
